Satellite navigation:

GPS(Global Positioning System - global system positioning) - satellite system navigation that measures distance, time, speed and determines the location of objects anywhere on the Earth. The system was developed, implemented and operated by the US Department of Defense. The basic principle of using the system is to determine the location by measuring the distances to the object from points with known coordinates - satellites. The distance is calculated from the signal propagation delay time from sending it by the satellite to receiving it by the GPS receiver antenna.
GLONASS(Global Navigation Satellite System) - Soviet and Russian satellite navigation system, developed by order of the USSR Ministry of Defense. The measurement principle is similar to the American GPS navigation system. GLONASS is intended for operational navigation and time support for ground, sea, air and space-based users. The main difference from the GPS system is that the GLONASS satellites in their orbital movement do not have resonance (synchronism) with the Earth's rotation, which provides them with greater stability.

Introduction

At the end of last year, Acer began selling several low-cost smartphones, including the Liquid Z530 models. At the time of release, the price was about 11,000 rubles, but now it can be found from 9,000 rubles.

The gadget is remarkable in that it is equipped with a 5-inch IPS screen and its resolution is 720x1280 pixels, that is, HD. Unfortunately, in this moment virtually all A-brands offer a lower resolution for the same amount. The Z530 also has 2 gigabytes of RAM, which is very good for such a device. As chips - front camera with wide-angle optics and musical effects DTS Studio Sound.

Design, dimensions, controls

The smartphone is made in the traditional Acer design: the rounded shape of the body, the main speaker, the camera and the polyphonic speaker are designed in the form of rings, and the speaker on the back side and the camera have the same diameters.

The screen is protected by glass. The manufacturer does not indicate which specific glass. There is an oleophobic coating, it is relatively effective. During testing, not a single scratch remained on the screen.

Side face decorated with a thin chrome insert that curves slightly towards the edges: somewhat reminiscent of some Sony phones Xperia type Arc.

The device has only two colors: white and black. In our review, the Z530 turned out to be in the dark. All body parts are plastic. The back cover is made under the metal with longitudinal miniature grooves, but the panel is still smooth and slippery to the touch.

The phone as a whole is compact, 144 x 70.3 x 8.9 mm, and light, 145 grams, but if the developers reduced the distance from the bottom of the device to the screen, it would be great. It lies well in the hand due to the sloping edges and the oval shape of the case.

On the top of the front side there are: an indicator of missed events, a speech speaker (loud, the interlocutor can be heard perfectly, intelligibility for the “five”), light and proximity sensors, a selfie camera.

Under the screen - the inscription "ACER", touch buttons.

The microUSB connector and the microphone are on the bottom, on the top there is a 3.5 mm audio output and a power button (it protrudes slightly from the case, the pressure is soft, the movement is small).

On the right is the volume rocker, on the left there are no elements.

Back side: camera eye, flash, noise canceling microphone, speaker speakerphone covered with black mesh.

The cover is removable, under it you will find two slots for micro SIM cards and a card slot microSD memory. The battery is also removable.

There are no complaints about the assembly, however, the central area of the back side is pressed a little to the battery.

Display

This device uses a 5-inch screen. The physical size is 62x111 mm, the frame is 14 mm at the top, 18 mm at the bottom, and approximately 3.5 mm each on the right and left. There is an anti-reflective coating.

Display resolution Acer Liquid Z530 - HD, that is, 720x1280 pixels, density - 293 pixels per inch. IPS OGS Matrix. For a diagonal of 5 inches, the resolution is quite normal, the pixelization is almost imperceptible, the picture is clear.

The maximum brightness of white color is 285 cd/m2, the minimum brightness of white color is 35 cd/m2, the maximum brightness of black color is 0.46 cd/m2, the minimum brightness of black color is 0.06 cd/m2. Contrast - 640:1.

The viewing angles are maximum, however, under the slopes, the screen is very violet and yellow.

Battery

This model uses a removable lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery with a capacity of 2420 mAh. The manufacturer does not provide data on autonomy.

The operating time of the gadget is exactly the same as that of any other budget Android smartphone with a similar battery, i.е. he “lives” for about 7-8 hours in a relatively active mode with a 3G or 4G connection: 20-30 minutes of calls, about an hour of using the camera, the same amount of video viewing, 3-4 hours of twitter and mail. If you want to play, then count on about an hour at full brightness and full volume of sound with speaker output.

From regular network adapter the battery is charged in 3 hours, from a USB PC - in 4-4.5 hours.

Communication options

This section could have been skipped. There is nothing interesting in it: two SIM cards, Wi-Fi b / g / n, Bluetooth, GPS (works well, the sensitivity is good). The only point is that the device understands the fourth-generation 4G LTE network with frequencies of 800/1800/2100/2600 MHz. That for 9,000 - 10,000 rubles is very welcome.

Memory and memory card

Inside is 2 GB of RAM. For an inexpensive device, this amount of RAM is a good result.

Built-in memory 16 GB. Approximately 9 GB available. Looks like they ate a lot installed programs and shell. Of course, microSD memory cards are supported, the maximum capacity is 32 GB.

Camera

There are two modules, in fact, as in almost any other similar smartphone: the main one (with autofocus, aperture F2.0), and the front one (aperture F2.4, wide angle) at 8 MP.

I don’t remember that the cameras installed in the devices from Acer have ever taken decent pictures. Alas, in this case, the module used does not please with stunning results: good shots are obtained from time to time. Best of all, the Z530 shoots macro and portrait photos, the worst is landscape. The main problem is blurry pictures. By the way, this is not the first time I have encountered a similar phenomenon in smartphones. It seems that the lens cannot focus on distant objects.

The device writes FullHD video at 30 fps during the day and 16 fps in the evening. The quality is so-so, focusing is present.

The front camera, as I said, has the same number of megapixels as the main one. There is no autofocus, but the angle is wide: on an outstretched arm, many objects can fit into the frame. The quality is average, objects in the distance are poorly processed. The videos are recorded in FullHD resolution.

The camera interface was provided with separate focusing and exposure point selection. In the settings, you can choose one of the effects: HDR, panorama, smile shot, photo with sound, presentation and others. The choice was a pleasant surprise. However, when the camera shoots poorly, the meaning of all effects is lost. There is slow motion for video. For front camera there is a backlight, it is carried out in the same way as in LG devices and other gadgets: a preview window with your face remains in the center, and the rest of the field is filled with white.

Performance and software platform

The device is powered by the Taiwanese MediaTek MT6735 chipset. This is a 64-bit SoC that contains 4 ARM Cortex-53 cores, a 28 nm manufacturing process, each with a clock frequency of up to 1.5 GHz. The graphics used are Mali T-720 with support for Open GL ES 3.0 and Open CL 1.2 API. Philips V526, Blackview Alife P1 Pro, Highscreen Power Five and many others operate on the same hardware.

When the processor is loaded, the case practically does not heat up.

The interface functions very quickly without any lags and brakes. With games, a typical situation: everything starts, but some complex games can slow down. Simple ones are no problem.

Performance Tests

Smartphone Acer Liquid Z530 works on the operating Google system android version 5.1. Upgrading to the "six" is not worth waiting for. There is a branded shell.

When I bought it, everyone was waiting for a catch, what and where would not work. Maybe the screen will stagger and recede? No, everything is okay. Maybe the sound of the speaker will be like a bucket? Yes, it seems no, of course not HiFi, but no worse than my old i710. Maybe speaker will be weak or the microphone will act up? No, and I hear everyone and everyone tells me that they can hear me better. Well then, the network must constantly lose! and then a bummer - the network keeps fine, even in the elevator, where the old i710 lost it completely. Well, I think we need to prepare for the worst, he will play music just badly! It's a strange thing, though not a fountain sound, but you can listen on the road! Yes, his sound is clearly not audiophile, but not the nastiest one that a mobile device can have. But I think the navigation will definitely junk. But no, it picks up satellites quickly, and finds the coordinates accurately. But something must be wrong! Found! The body will fasten. If you pull and crush it in your hands, like a piece of clay is crushed for needlework classes, then it emits plaintive squeaks and squeaks. Now I'm like everyone else. And then I thought that I was not lucky and I got a surprisingly bug-free device. P.S. There was still hope that WiFi would not pick up, and then the hopes did not come true, and at home and at work I connected to the network without problems. But the testing is not over yet, maybe it will be possible to dig up something else!

Flaws: see below

Advantages: see below

User experience: less than a month

Acer entered the communicator market without ever learning how to do anything decent.

Flaws: Their name is legion. Idiot design. To press the power button, you need to twist your hand. The camera button is tight - the move is generally slurred, you won’t understand when you pressed it, when not. Touch buttons under the screen - are pressed at the most inopportune time. But all this is trifles compared to the wild instability of the device - constant shutdowns, and during calls, a coma a couple of times a week, which is treated only by removing the battery. Spontaneous volume reset during a call. No running time. Dead charging included, up to 5 hours on charge. I never had a child car chargers, since the days of Siemens SX1, but here I had to get it. No tech support. Android 2.1 was promised back in May, so far silence. And, finally, zero liquidity: I sold through the forum for two weeks, practically not a single intelligible offer. As a result, I sold it for 10 tr, having lost 6900 rubles in a month. This is despite the fact that the previous device, an iPhone 3g one and a half years old, was foolishly sold in one day for 15.

Advantages: At first glance - the mass. Especially the price with such a set of performance characteristics. Rave reviews. But with real operating experience, everything is not so beautiful.

5 "of this smartphone at a price of 4" Samsung gives odds to Eiser in work, and in terms of quality on the same shelf. I believed him so much that I inadvertently began to delete everything unnecessary applications and the smartphone didn’t like it, but after reloading, everything fell into place. Pleasant and friendly. For this price, I had Ark, Digma, Fly, Dexp on 5 "- you can’t put it next to it, but Azuz and Eiser can. Screen without traces. I'm not interested in cameras, I shoot with professional equipment. The sound is without distortion, but the volume is 4, in headphones 5+. All sensors are without glitches. Gps / 3G \ 4G-everything works quickly.
If I break it, I'll post it. ... and you take an interest in Acer. \ At work, Acer's laptop is 7 years old and does not break ... \

Flaws: screen cover is a sequel back cover- for an amateur
Charge for 2 days, without work-2 weeks and I don’t know: minus or plus?
The screen is not amoled, it does not withstand the bright sun.

Advantages: quality, screen, comfortable

Experience of use: several months

Since the previous Acer Z160 suited almost everyone, but over time, the 4GB built-in memory was not enough, especially the smartphone was terribly stupid, opening the camera, calls or sms for 20 seconds, it was decided to upgrade to something more capacious, fast and modern.
Naturally not the size of a shovel. However, a market review showed that in a budget with decent characteristics less than 5 "" screen is not available now.
Passing by the nondescript remnants of other models and manufacturers, at different times the eye fell on such things as Asus Zenfone 2, Doogee T3 or Yotaphone 2.
As a result, I purchased an Acer Z530.
By the nature of work, I used quite a lot of different smartphones, including all sorts of iPhone 6/7, so the choice was far from a finger in the sky.
From the Acer line, another alternative was considered, with almost identical Acer specifications Z528 (Zest 4G). A plus in it was battery-saving Android 6.0 in standby mode. Minus the 2000 mAh battery instead of 2400 for the Z530. As a result, I decided that the iron solution of autonomy is preferable to software, due to the less dependence on the frequency of use and screen burning. And I reduced the power consumption by manually turning off unnecessary notifications in the application settings and unnecessary radio frequencies in the engineering menu.
I immediately took a leather case-book, and the phone turned from an openwork-compact (relative to its 5-inch size) into a concrete brick.
A week later, the book case was replaced with the original flip panel with a lid (like the Z130 model). This is where everything became as it should be with compactness and screen security. I don't like protective films, Yes. When making calls, the same flip can be closed (there is a hole for the speaker). Plus a magnetic sensor, I'm already used to the fact that when you open the flip, the phone turns on by itself.

Flaws: Model 2015, so of. There will be no update to Android 6.0. After all the updates to the 34th firmware, Android 5.1 will again show in the OS properties.
The camera is traditionally weaker than the Samsung one (however, Samsung is just as traditionally a little worse than the rest).
Weak wi-fi signal through several walls. Where most devices show 2-3 sure sticks, this one has 0-1-2, and the connection periodically breaks.
I changed the router to a more powerful one, with 5 dB antennas (however, I was going to do it for a long time), the situation did not improve significantly.
Here, either you need to place the router in the same room or corridor, a maximum of 1-2 walls. Or switch from 802.11n mode to b or g mode, then it catches again throughout the apartment, and the speed does not suffer (I have a home Internet of 50 Mbps, with distribution of 15-20 Mbps per device).

Advantages: In general, the smartphone can be described as bright, stylish and comfortable.
Built-in 16 GB (of which about 10 are available) + 2 GB RAM, today in 2016-2017. The user of "just a smartphone" should be behind the eyes. Therefore, with Android 5.1, it is both fast and very inexpensive.
Confident cold start with quick search GPS satellites.
In general, it is surprising why many comments (with a smart verdict that Acer continues to make ordinary smartphones) only look at the characteristics, forgetting that in the budget segment they (characteristics) are the same, because no one will develop a separate chip as a specialist. And the difference between smartphones is not in couch analytics, cores, megahertz, tests and pictures on the Internet, but in practical convenience, tactile sensations, materials and a well-developed software interface. Where, in order to say something unambiguously, you need to hold the phone in your hand, or better, use it for a couple of days.
And in this regard, Acer is definitely better than Huawei with Texets. Yes, and Asus with Samsung is the same, only more expensive.
From the advantages of Acer here:
- bright and clear screen, airless technology;
- oleophobic coating, and in terms of "slipperiness" it is even better than in the iPhone 6;
- atomic design: roundness (like Yotaphone 2), round holes, a thin steel (not plastic) strip on the sidewall, corrugation on the back cover, a solid combination of black and gray;
- LED event indicator;
- quick cleaning icon in the menu of active applications.
In Android competitors, such trifles are often lacking, where you hold a smartphone with more "cool" characteristics in your hand, but it is very dull in appearance and interface, and it's not fun to use it. This is no wonder when their appearance now rarely deviates from the "flat rectangle with rounded corners and three buttons" style.
They also write that it breaks, etc. things. I took it not so long ago, six months, while the flight is normal. And to whom it is not enough, then the previous Acer Z160, bought back in 2014, was handed over to the bate in good condition.

A week later, the microphone broke, they repaired it for about a month - they replaced the entire board.

Flaws: Many complain about the breakdown of the microphone for this model. With an active network load (for example, a torrent), it gets very hot. Very bad sound from the speakers - listening to music without headphones is impossible.

Advantages: The screen - the color rendition is simply unreal, I liked it very much. Great sound in headphones. good camera with all modern options. Fits comfortably in the hand.

The hardware part is on top, I didn’t notice iron glitches, there are no squeaks and backlashes, if you don’t fold it in half. For a month and a half, not a single scratch, I use it without a case and films.
After flashing to 2.1, I began to suit everyone, except for the battery. Yandex traffic jams on such a screen are super, only you first need to cache the maps and the traffic will be only for downloading information about traffic jams. GPRS, WIFI, "I" mail - everything works fine.
In general, the device is valid, it costs its money. I do not regret buying for 15K. I'm sure Android is the future. But if you are going to talk a lot or use it as an MP3 player, this is not your option. You don't need smart at all.

Flaws: Battery. On native firmware, the battery lasted 2.5 days, not bad for such a screen, but I upgraded it to 2.100.7 and barely enough for a day, I tried everything, nothing helps. I killed processes with Taskkiller, deleted all programs, disconnected all communications - without result. Can anyone tell me if this is the case for everyone?
The lack of hardware buttons for conversations, when I switched to 2.1 I quickly got used to it.
WITH native firmware It is impossible to use 1.6 as a phone: you press the end call with your cheek during a conversation, the ear sensor often did not work, which is why it was hemorrhoids to press the end call after a call, and in general the telephone part was terribly buggy, cut off Blutooth.
Uncontrolled trips to the Internet devour funds, you always have to turn off access, since this is not difficult.

Advantages: Android 2.1 - Hurricane
Appearance- looks expensive
The screen is the bomb
Games (primitive on the market, look on the net)
Internet surfing - very convenient
Lots of apps and games

Experience of use: several months
If you want a google phone and have not decided, you want to try it - ideal. If money is not a pity, you can consider HTC Desire, samsung galaxy S, but this is a completely different price category. Compared to the HTC Legend, it is more expensive, the display resolution is lower, even though it has AMOLED. Well, the rest of the models in the category of this phone are either significantly inferior to it in terms of display, processor, or have their own, very significant shortcomings. By itself, the ability to install Android 2.2 is a huge plus of this phone.

Flaws:- Mark Corps. With careless handling, abrasions are formed (not very quickly).
- The case is slightly prone to deformation and creaks.
- The camera does not have a backlight. And the camera of stars from the sky itself is not enough, but for the phone it's normal.
- The side buttons are not very convenient. By touch, you often confuse the power button with the camera button, because the phone is symmetrical at the bottom and at the top. The buttons themselves are located so-so.
- Bad speaker for a call. It's not critical for me: I use tweeters. If you put normal music, he will not be able to play it loudly and with high quality.

Advantages:- Gorgeous display: juicy colors, bright, excellent viewing angles, resolution 800*480.
- original design. As noted in other reviews, people really pay attention to this phone (I often meet girls). Pop iPhones are already boring, this device looks very good. I have black.
- Excellent hardware stuffing. A powerful processor should be added to the platform's standard accelerometer, compass, GPS, and so on, which for some reason is derated to 768 megahertz, but is still very fast.

The biggest headache for smartphone manufacturers is creating a high-quality mid-range device at an adequate price. Undertook this difficult task and the company Acer. The model of the Liquid Z series is not even in the middle, but closer to the “pre-headliners”, older than those announced for currently Z-ok only 630 and 630 S.

Equipment

The packaging of the device is made of fairly thin cardboard, the protective qualities of which inspire some doubts. If you squeeze the box along the ends, the cardboard is creased and light dents remain on the package. It is unlikely that such a box can prevent serious damage under heavy weight, but the packaging reliably protects against moisture, dust and small weight loads.

In the box under the lid itself, on a folding tablet, lies the apparatus. Under the "pedestal" are micro-usb cable, Charger and a wired headset. Each of the accessories is packed in an individual matte package - an optional, but pleasant thing: it is not necessary to unpack all the accessories at once.

Appearance

The gadget is made of plastic, there are several chrome-plated parts in the case: a bezel on the side of the phone, as well as a bezel for the main camera, microphone and speaker. Frankly speaking, the plastic of the device does not look reliable, despite the stylization of the back cover under the metal. Especially the "quality" of the plastic is obvious in the absence of a battery: the lid flexes from a simple touch.

The device is made in the form of a fairly strongly rounded rectangle at the edges. The USB port is located in the rounded area, but this does not interfere with the easy insertion of the cable without any effort. The screen of the gadget is covered with glass, which protects it from minor scratches.

The phone fits quite comfortably in a medium-sized hand, the fingers are long enough to reach all the necessary buttons without resorting to the second hand. The volume control buttons of the device are located on the right side, the adjustment is carried out with the index and middle fingers of the left hand or the thumb of the right. The off and on button is on the top back. Of the general remarks, one can note the sufficient ease of pressing the shutdown button. The body of the button extends approximately 0.5 mm beyond the body, which can cause arbitrary pressing and turning on the device in the pockets of the owners.

At the bottom of the cover there is a small recess for the nail, which supposedly should make it easier to remove the back panel. It really helps to pick up the lid, but then the panel needs to be literally broken out, being in constant thought - will the plastic break or withstand it.

Under the cover are two slots for micro-SIM, one of which is combined with a slot for a memory card. SIM cards and a memory card are blocked by the battery, it will not work to change the SIM card without turning off and rebooting the device.

Another point of contention is the rather large round ear and main speakers. On the one hand, the device is capable of reproducing sufficiently clear and loud noise for music, video and games, on the other hand, if a significant amount of moisture gets into the holes, for example, due to rain, it can lead to breakage.

Display

It is rather strange that the technical specifications say so little about the display - one of the strongest points of this device. The smartphone is not equipped with a newfangled 4K display, but the IPS OGS matrix and HD LCD display (1280x720) is a good solution for a mid-range phone. The diagonal of the device is declared 5 inches, in fact the screen dimensions are 62 * 111 mm.

The screen showed excellent results in terms of viewing angles and brightness, there are no complaints about the Z530. Adaptive brightness works at a good speed, adapting to indoor and outdoor lighting, however, the maximum and minimum values are set only manually.

The screen is very glare, especially in artificial light. This problem can be solved by purchasing an additional protective glass or film with anti-reflective properties. A nice feature of the gadget is the Bluelight Shield mode. The mode significantly reduces the intensity of the blue gamut, which allows you to unload your eyes as much as possible.

Iron

The device is equipped MediaTek processor MT6735, with four ARM Cortex-53 cores, 1.3GHz. The graphic subsystem of the device is represented by Mali T-720. Many modern devices of the middle price category operate on similar hardware. The heating of the device can be safely called minimal, especially when compared with the leading popular models other companies. Heating is felt only during charging, using navigation and in heavy 3D games.

The speed of work does not cause any complaints, the hardware runs almost all modern games. During testing, the device showed an instant response of the system, there are no braking and freezing during everyday use.

Software

The model is equipped with Android 5.1 with a proprietary launcher from Acer. The device supports over-the-air updates, the main thing is that the phone is charged above 50-60% at the time of the update.

Acer offers several branded applications and features. The Z530 is equipped with Quick Touch gesture control support. Gestures cannot be changed, the only thing available to the user is to decide whether he will enable the gesture control option or not. To use gestures, you need to draw the corresponding figure on the off screen of your smartphone: I - unlock, V - call, C - camera, Swipe left - Acer information page, Z - music. For fans of quality photos from additional features we can note LumiFlex, which improves the quality of displaying images in the gallery. Another feature of the gadget is the mode parental controls.

An interesting feature of the Z530 is the floating apps option. In parallel with the main work, you can turn on a floating calendar, notes and a calculator that can be used "on top" of regular programs.

Communication and multimedia

Z530 supports the main demanded communication protocols, including LTE. GPS navigation is quite fast, through maps you can build the necessary route in less than a minute.

The telephone module works perfectly, the interlocutor is heard clearly, without distortion. You can also hear quite clearly through the headset, but you can hardly hope that the bundled headphones will last a long time.

The main speaker of the Liquid Z530 delivers powerful sound, but wheezing is heard at maximum volume.

Battery

The device has a removable 2420 mAh battery. Expect something special from such a battery, especially coupled with enough powerful processor, do not have to. In terms of operating time, the device demonstrates average performance: in idle mode, the phone lasted a little less than a day, in medium load mode, 6-8 hours. Shooting a video, a medium-weight 3D game and a movie took the phone from 100% to full shutdown in 3 hours.

Camera

A feature of the device are the same front and rear cameras, with a resolution of 8 megapixels. The main camera has HDR functions, panorama, smile shooting. Of the interesting options, it is worth noting the Bright Magic mode, which allows you to get clearer and brighter pictures in low light.

The camera has four real-time filters. The user will be able to shoot in sepia, aqua, monochrome and negative.

In mode manual settings you can select white balance, brightness, saturation, contrast and sharpness.

Summing up

If Acer really had a goal to create something in between, then they undoubtedly succeeded. Among the advantages of the device, one can note a pleasant price, certainly high performance, loud sound, not the worst camera, good quality high-quality bright display with wide viewing angles. Of the main disadvantages: a glare screen surface, a not very capacious battery and flimsy-looking plastic. We can say that the device is perfect for a student or a schoolboy, as well as a person who does not require a lot from a smartphone.
