Readers may not agree, but personally, the author of these lines has always associated the word Lite with a diet variety of one of, perhaps, the most popular drinks in the world. Yes, yes, the same one. Sugarless. Which seems to be the same as the usual one, but in reality is completely different - and certainly not as tasty. Therefore, having seen this very Lite in the name of the “small” MediaPad, the author involuntarily became wary - what if the venerable audience again wants to slip something supposedly amusing, supposedly having something in common with the cool MediaPad FHD, but in reality it’s not at all so interesting? Let's check!

⇡ Appearance

In appearance, the second MediaPad 7 Lite is no different from the first. Unfortunately, it never made it to our test lab, so let's talk about the exterior of the device in detail. Strange as it may seem, the small, so to speak, MediaPad looks more like not its ten-inch brother, but even HTC Flyer. We do not take into account similar sizes and proportions: all Android tablets are not far from each other, and seven-inch ones are even more so. However, in this case, it was worth taking the MediaPad 7 Lite II in your hands - and warm, lamp memories of the Flyer themselves came to mind.

Our guest today - Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite II

The front panel of the tablet is almost the same as in other devices of a similar size. If you take several seven-inch tablets, glue the manufacturer's logos and put them side by side, then it will not be easy to determine exactly where the MediaPad 7 Lite II is hidden. There are no hardware buttons on the front panel - only a webcam peephole and a speaker slot. The last element distinguishes the gadget from colleagues in the shop - talking on the tablet has become fashionable quite recently.

Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite II - front panel

The already mentioned memories of HTC Flyer flashed involuntarily in my head when we saw the back panel of the tablet. I don’t want to give such a crude metaphor, but if one “apple” company saw such a borrowing of its developments, then Huawei would have already fought off numerous lawsuits. In order not to be unfounded, we will show everything in the pictures.

Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite II - back panel and sides

The body of the tablet is made of aluminum, which is typical for more expensive gadgets. Thanks to the use of winged metal, the case does not creak or flex. However, with light pressure, characteristic color streaks appear on the screen. Metal or not metal - you still don't need to drop the device. Back panel The tablet is gray, with white plastic inserts, one of which houses the lens of the main camera.

Recall: HTC Flyer was born in 2011

The placement of controls in MediaPad 7 Lite II is standard. The power and volume buttons are located on the top (if we mean landscape, “tablet” orientation) end of the device. Nearby are slots for full-sized SIM-cards and cards microSD memory hidden under a plastic cap. The micro-USB interface used to transfer data and charge the tablet, as well as a universal 3.5 mm audio jack, are placed on the right side of the case.

Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite II - key and connector layout

From the Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite II looks very attractive, and in the hands lies like a glove - thanks to the rough surface of the back panel, the device does not try to slip out of them. The MediaPad 7 Lite II is assembled very well - we did not find any shortcomings during testing.

The tablet package is standard - in addition to it, accompanying documentation is attached, Charger along with a cable to connect the device via USB to other equipment. As they say, nothing superfluous, for which you need to overpay money, and everyone can buy headphones and a case on their own, based on their own taste preferences.

Design

By external execution Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite 3G is almost identical to HTC's Flyer, which was released a little earlier. It's up to you to judge whether it's good or not, but the design itself looks quite attractive - the front case is completely black, rear end It is made of silver-colored aluminum, with white plastic inserts along the edges. All this looks beautiful, the metal panel makes the tablet more rigorous and expensive, more reliable in use.

As for the placement of connectors and keys, on the back with right side there is a camera, next to it is a speaker. The volume keys and connectors are located on one side of the model - you will not be confused what is where. On the bottom of the device are the USB and headphone jacks.

It is advisable to note the overall dimensions of the model - it is quite compact, so you can easily carry it with you, and not for this, since the tablet will fit even in a large pocket. This is one of the significant benefits. The weight of the MediaPad 7 Lite 3G is also small.

Screen

The model is equipped with a high quality TFT IPS screen, which is considered best solution for use in tablets. The 7-inch diagonal makes it practical, since such dimensions are enough for comfortable use, however, thanks to this, the small dimensions of the device are preserved.

The resolution of 1024×600 allows you to get a high-quality and bright image, the screen has good viewing angles. Note that the resolution is slightly lower than in the analogs of this brand, but this is not a significant drawback, most likely you will not notice a difference in the picture.

From additional features it is advisable to note the multi-touch - the screen recognizes up to 5 simultaneous touches, an automatic adjustment sensor is provided, which adjusts the brightness parameters, depending on the lighting (if desired, it can be turned off).

The sensitivity of the sensor is not bad, the only drawback is the high soiledness of the screen, fingerprints are very visible on the surface, which at the same time is inherent in most models of such equipment.

Performance

Tablet Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite 3G runs on a Cortex-A8 processor with a frequency of 1200 GHz, the amount of RAM is 1 GB. Such parameters are rather mediocre, so you should not count on a particularly high performance of the device.

It will easily cope with everyday tasks: surfing the web, downloading videos, including Full HD, playing music, reading books and simultaneous launch multiple applications. You are unlikely to encounter freezing or braking, “crashes” of programs, because although the processor is single-core, it surprises with its speed.

As for games, the situation is different here: on the tablet you can play most of them, but in dynamic programs that require high parameters, the picture may twitch or freeze. In any case, high smoothness should not be expected, since the processor and the amount of RAM are rather weak for such tasks.

However, what to expect from a device at this price? Naturally, if you want to play the coolest applications with powerful graphics, you should choose a model several times more expensive. And Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite 3G does an excellent job with the usual tasks, suitable for work, study, use at your leisure.

Multimedia features

The tablet is very good when used as a compact multimedia center, firstly, thanks to a good screen on which you can enjoy watching movies, and secondly, because of the powerful speaker that produces loud, but.

If we talk about internal content, then in the system multimedia files are conveniently placed in the gallery, regardless of their location - in internal memory or on external media. By the way, the manufacturer offers not too large volume internal storage - 8 GB, but you can always put a memory card up to 32 GB - the device can easily handle this amount of information.

The device supports reading almost all existing current formats of audio and video files, especially the Full HD format is worth noting - films of this type are played without delays and slowdowns, which is undoubtedly a big plus for this model.

Excellent video playback and streaming. And the tablet can also be used for work - with the appropriate applications, a large number of which you will find in the store Play market, you can view and edit documents and other files.

You can also use the device as a navigator - it displays without delay and distortion google maps, a significant plus is the support of SIM-cards for making calls and sending SMS.

And the last thing worth mentioning in this part of the review is the built-in 3G module for using a high-speed Internet connection.

Battery and operating time

The battery in Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite 3G has a capacity of 4100 mAh, it is enough for 2.5 hours of work with maximum parameters brightness, Wi-Fi on and constant video playback. If you slightly reduce the brightness, use mainly applications, turn off wireless connection when you are not using it, the duration battery life will double.

Such indicators are not too high, therefore, most likely, with active use, the tablet needs to be charged daily or even several times a day. However, this is the case with almost all equipment of this type, so it does not surprise gamers too much.

Camera

This model has two built-in cameras - the main one at 3.2 MP and the front camera at 0.3 MP. It immediately becomes clear that the front camera is designed for video communication and no more, the highlight is only its location in the left corner above the screen, and not in the center.

If we talk about the main camera, the photo quality is average, it shoots well in normal lighting, there is a variety of settings - white balance, contrast, all sorts of effects, and so on. To expand the functionality, you can download any of the camera applications if the basic settings are not enough for you.

With more full review parameters, it turns out that the camera does not have autofocus, the white balance often works incorrectly, but there is a function. In general, it is enough for simple amateur photos, but it cannot be compared with ordinary photographic equipment.

Operating system and programs

The device runs on Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3. To get started, a large number of basic applications are installed by default - browser, calculator, alarm clock, dispatcher file system, gallery, Mailbox and others.

The system has been slightly improved in this shell, the menu is displayed not in the form of a large general list, but through a set of desktops, where all components are grouped - this makes it easier to view and find the application you need.

On a tablet, users can finally turn off the bottom black line, which often interfered with the use of programs, which is a significant plus of this version of the system. Equipment software remained common, like everyone else Android devices so it won't take long to figure it out.

The interface is convenient and understandable for any user, it can be adjusted at will by changing the configuration of desktops, the display of icons and notifications. At the bottom of the screen are collected the most important operating parameters - time, charge indicator, Wi-Fi connection strength and SIM card signal, if it is installed in Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite 3G.

By clicking the arrow on the left side of the black line, you will open a list of running applications that can be disabled by simply deleting them from the list. If we talk about using a tablet as a mobile device, it can be used to send messages, make calls - last action possible only through the headset.

By her own android system is notable for its flexibility - you can install any applications compatible with the tablet by downloading them in a proprietary google store play market.

Competitors

If we compare Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite 3G with devices similar in functionality, then it is advisable to pay attention to Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0, which, however, has the advantage of better performance. It can also work longer without recharging, but the difference is not too significant. But they differ in price - the model from Samsung costs about 14 thousand rubles.

A simple analysis of devices on the market leads to the conclusion that tablets with similar parameters from other manufacturers are more expensive than Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite 3G, so it has a significant advantage - why pay more?

Advantages and disadvantages

Among the advantages of this model, we note the following:

  • Attractive design and quality build.
  • Quality IPS display
  • Availability of 3G and work with a SIM-card.
  • Excellent functionality with a small device size.
  • Affordable price.

Among the minuses, the most significant is the low performance compared to other analogues. Due to this, the device costs less. It is also important to pay attention to the short, not too quality camera- Perhaps these characteristics play a significant role for you when choosing.

Conclusion

At the end of the review, we conclude that Huawei MediaPad 7 Lite 3G is a worthy model in the middle price category with extensive functionality. The device combines compact and convenient dimensions, high-quality display, good performance for work tasks, using the Internet, including a high-speed 3G connection, it does an excellent job of playing movies and videos, music.

In general, it will be fine for most users, it will not cope only with demanding games and will give way to competitors in battery power. But in terms of price, it has a significant advantage, so you should definitely pay attention to it. Don't forget about appearance- although its design is copied from another developer, it looks beautiful. The assembly is done to the conscience, the device will fit well into any environment - whether it's a meeting in the office or a trip to the ends of the world.

    1) good screen(just high-quality without enthusiasm) 2) Acceptable performance (many write that even the birds do not work. Just put another version) 3) good GPS (I bought it last year car navigator Prestige firms, the tablet is noticeably faster and catches satellites better) 4) Good Wi-Fi receiver (perfectly picks up a signal where the laptop is barely) 5) 3G (significantly expands the mobility of the device)

    battery is weak

    1) Battery (this is just horror, not a battery. When it was the first iPad, you generally forget about charging. And this one has 2-3 hours, despite the fact that the "extra" functions are disabled. The battery simply puts an end to the mobility of the device, the owner is constantly tied to the outlet.I believed that the problem would be solved car charger Well, that's not where it was - in the state of operation from the cigarette lighter, the tablet is discharged, it is charged only in the off state. Perhaps charging with other characteristics will solve the problem) 2) Case (many as a plus point to an aluminum case. Who needs an aluminum insert on back cover? especially since the rest of the body is made of low-quality plastic. I have been using the tablet since November 2012, constantly in a case, did not fall, but the plastic bezel around the perimeter of the screen is all crackling

    Weak battery
    - Relatively weak processor for heavy games

    1. Not very high performance (although again, for this price, everything is fine).
    2. I was not impressed with the operating time from a single charge. I have enough for two evenings (surfing, video), the rest of the time the device is turned off.
    3. The most important disadvantage for me is the low quality and sensitivity of the front camera. Although this is not clear to me: the specifications say 0.3 megapixels, this is the same as in inexpensive laptops. But in reality, the quality is not comparable. the interlocutor sees me only when talking on a bright day. In the evening, even when the light is on in the room, there is a very dark picture transmitted by the front camera. That is, the room should be very, very bright for comfortable communication.
    4. The sensitivity of the microphone - it could be better, it seems to me. In general, you can hear relatively normal

How can you briefly characterize the MediaPad 7 Lite? A good device for quite little money - about $ 130-150. A simplified version of MediaPad 7, a good design from an aesthetic and practical point of view. It has good performance in work, but is not suitable for heavy games.

Design

The glossy front part is nothing special. I would also like to note that the front part is very easily soiled, there are always spots and fingerprints on it.

But the back is quite stylish, made of brushed aluminum, with white matte plastic inserts. Looks good, even very representative.

By finding the connectors, logo and camera, it becomes quite clear that the device must be used in portrait mode. Based on what it is clear that the lower side of the device is the one on which there is a micro-usb connector, a hole for headphones or a 3.5 mm headset, and a microphone.

There is nothing from the upper side part, only a 0.3 MP camera is slightly visible from above on the front side. On the right side there is a whole row of keys and connectors - power / lock keys, and a volume rocker. Under the cover there are slots for micro-sd cards and a regular SIM card.

Performance

The tablet has a lightweight RockChip RK2918 processor, and one core - Cortex A8, with a frequency of 1 Hz and 1 GB RAM. The Vivante GC800 chip is responsible for the processing and speed of graphics and video - this is the weak side of this device. Inner memory device - 8 GB, of which the user will get only 6 GB, everything else is for Android.

Display

It has already become traditional that Huawei provides even the most budget devices with good IPS displays. Our device has a 7-inch screen with a resolution of 1024x600 pixels and an IPS matrix. Not very high resolution this moment, although devices with this resolution were once very popular.

The manufacturer has kept the harmony between quality and cost. For example, the brightness of the screen is not bad, but it is not enough to work in bright sunlight, and besides, glare from the gloss coating interferes. Viewing angles are also good, but not the maximum. The quality of the displayed image is good, but the shades are rather cold. But the display responds perfectly to touch, and supports up to 5 touches at the same time.

In general, you can’t call an excellent screen by today’s standards, but it’s more than useful for many users to complete the tasks - and what else do you need to surf the Internet and watch HD videos from YouTube?

Camera

Two cameras for a budget device is very good. Although the tablets are not distinguished by professional photographic modes, they still fulfill their mission. The front camera of 0.3 megapixels, as always, is suitable for video calls, but the main 3 megapixel camera will be responsible for scanning QR codes. Image quality is mediocre, so don't get hung up on that. An unpleasant detail is that there is no autofocus, so unfortunately it will not work to capture the text in a quality manner.

Sound

It would seem that you can give us one speaker (and note, not stereo), which is located on the back near the camera? The whole joke is that the speaker is very loud. Therefore, watching Full HD video will now be even more pleasant, because you will not need to strain your ears.

Means of communication and communication

Most likely the pride of this device is the 3G module. Here he is, inexpensive tablet, from which you can make calls, send SMS, and access the Internet from anywhere where there is coverage mobile network. Conversational speaker the handset does not have one, so communication will be carried out either through the speakerphone (through the same loud speaker on the rear panel), or through a headset, which is more convenient.

A full-fledged GPS module is also included, which is suitable not only for pedestrians, but also for use in a car. True, the cold start is a little long, for the very first time the module will find satellites for about 1-2 minutes, but then it will happen much faster.

There are also standard - Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The Android 4.0 operating system is complemented by a few nice touches from Huawei. For example, an additional mode has been created that allows you to access the most important functions even when the display is locked - quickly call the camera, sms or call.

Offline work

The volume of the installed battery is 4000 mAh. Unfortunately, it will be able to ensure the operation of the device without recharging only for 2.5-3.5 hours under load - the maximum, and this is too little. Of course, it will be possible to set the brightness level lower, try to close unnecessary applications, turn off the 3G network and Wi-Fi, if they are not in use at this moment, then the device will last longer. The strange thing is that other devices with the same amount of battery last much longer. And it is not clear what is the reason, in the battery itself, or in software optimization. In general, when watching movies, the device will last for 3 hours.

Outcome

In general, Huawei has released a very good tablet, which is sold for little money. Unfortunately, it has enough power to run powerful modern games, but it will do the job quite well, besides, the 3G module saves the situation. The main and only negative of this device is the battery life.
